Garment Calculator CD - if you are having trouble figuring out the math from the worksheet link above, you can choose to purchase my CD that does the calculations for you:
If you wish to felt a seamless garment that fits, it’s important to first make a resist (plastic pattern) that accurately reflects your body measurements and shrinkage that occurs during the felting process. See the article "The Magic of Nuno Felting" in the December 2009/January 2010 issue of Threads magazine for details.
The Threads article includes directions for felting a sample (30 cm by 30 cm) used to determine shrinkage and also the quantity of wool needed for the actual garment.
To make a resist, you’ll need to take your body measurements, make a sample, and then calculate the resist size and amount of wool needed using the equations and diagrams detailed at Seamless Garment Calculations.
To make the calculations very easy and accurate, you can purchase an electronic Garment Calculator CD. It does the math for you! The disc is available for $17.95 plus shipping. |
